Our Executives and International Tutors
Jingyi He
Founder and CEO
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Honours), University of Alberta – Alberta, Canada.
May we follow our dreams in our passionate youth, soar together in the blue skyes, and belend our voices in a single song that will echo through the valley.
放飞我们的青春与梦想,带着你在蓝天翱翔,在山谷歌唱。
It began during the COVID-19 crisis, when Jingyi witnessed the lockdown of schools throughout Canada and the world. For families who had children in Chinese Bilingual Programs in Alberta, this meant that many students were unable to practice speaking Mandarin in the classroom. This challenge became even greater for families where Chinese was not their first language at home, and children risked losing any progress made in learning the second-language.
Seeing a need to fill this learning gap and fueled with a passion to continue the Chinese dialogue with families and their children, Jingyi set forth to set up Cvalley in the spring of 2020. Cvalley seeks to connect students in the bilingual program with a Chinese native speaker to provide online one-on-one tutoring. In the 4 months of it’s inception, Jingyi and her team of tutors has helped more than 30 families across Alberta with over 350 conversations, and has also received recognition from the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta. With this acknowledgement, she hopes to continue this program and reach out to more families in need as a way to not only help enhance students’ Mandarin skill-level; but to also facilitate ongoing cultural understanding and appreciation.

Upon joining the program, Desmond had a passionate vision for the program’s future: using education as the medium to mentor children in navigating between two distinct cultures and explore creative approaches to learning. Desmond hopes to further this vision. His degree prepared him in both business and political administration, and he sees this opportunity as a prime way to utilize his knowledge in creating something impactful. He has also been an exchange student to UC Berkeley, the organizer of G20 China Young Enterpreneurs’ Alliance, and has a vast array of co-op experience in both Chinese and American firms. He hopes to use his education background, and experiences with leadership and organization to further the vision of Cvalley.

A new language brings learners to a world full of unknowns. At Cvalley, you will be heard and responded. We guide and accompany you to make the trip, so all you need is to bring your curiosity and passion, and get ready to be surprised by your own accomplishment.
学习一个新语言就像是走进未知世界。在Cvalley,你的声音会被听见且回应。这条路上我们引导和陪伴,所以你要做的就是带上热情和好奇,等待一个惊喜。
In May 2020, Yuhan joined Cvalley to lead the development of curriculum design. Using her background in Neuroscience and Behavioural Studies, Yuhan questioned how the current Mandarin program used in schools could be further enhanced to elevate learners’ efficiency in the language.
As a result, Cvalley’s program textbook was created and has since been the basis of the lessons offered to it’s students. Yuhan continues to expand Cvalley’s collection of topics, so that it’s tutors, students and parents have a variety of learning options and approaches to choose from.
