Lesson Design Philosophy
To create customized learning, every tutor plans their lesson based on their he student’s age, abilities and interests, as well as incorporating parent’s suggestions and feedback. Overall, our lesson design consists of three components: pre-class, in-class & post-class.
Pre-Class
To prepare for each class, the tutor consults with the student or parent to select a conservation topic from our curriculum. This process considers situational factors such as the student’s or parent's identified learning goal and the student's language proficiency level.
The tutor will then leverage cValley’s template textbook and customize sessions that are aligned to the student’s individual need and/or level.
In-Class
During class, the tutor and student will converse on the topic(s) that were previously selected. The tutor is responsible for initiating and prompting the student to participate in the discussion using the Mandarin language. Students will also be encouraged to ask questions for the tutor to clarify the material while the tutor also notes the student's learning progress.
Post-Class
Parents will be provided a Monthly Progress Report that reflects their child’s learning progress. The report will include information of the actual learning activities and the student’s performance. Parents are welcome to contact their tutor to get more information on their child’s progress at anytime.
Every teacher is given training in respect of their responsibilities, the appropriate use of textbooks, assessment of student’ performance as well as children’s language development.
