Concept for Textbook Design

Our textbook incorporates topics that connects with students’ lived experiences. In doing so we believe this will facilitate a deeper comprehension of the material, while also motivating the learner to practise and apply their verbal skills in a real-life scenario. Topics are suitable for any age. Difficulty will be adjusted by tutor according to student's Mandarin skill level.

Textbook Production

Our cValley team develops its textbook content through considering a diverse array of real-life topics with varying levels of difficulty. Such a design provides the flexibility that tutors can leverage while applying their own instructional expertise catered to their student’s individual needs and Mandarin speaking ability.

Textbook Organization

We use The Chinese Book (中文书) from the Confucius Institute to guide the development of our textbook. The Chinese Book (中文书) is also the basis of many Chinese-bilingual programs offered in Canada.

cValley’s textbook is the basis of the lessons offered to its students, which is topic-based and contains two main parts:

  • Vocabulary and Grammar:

Every lesson begins with introducing the student to relevant thematic vocabulary and phrases related to the day’s session topic.

  • Conversation:

The conservation component is the core of our curriculum, which encourages students to practice the Mandarin language in a safe and stress-free environment.
